The Dell company is one of the most popular and recognized computer manufacturing companies in the world today. It is an American company located in Round Rock, Texas. The company was started by Michael Dell.

As you can see from the link above, Mr. Dell had a net worth of $20 billion dollars before the age of 40. So, I would say that the Dell computer company has done very well, obviously.

As you can see on the panel on the left side of this page, Dell produces so many models of laptop computers that it is hard to keep up with. I don't know how they do it. It's simply amazing. The Dell Latitude D-series laptops are among the most popular and most bought notebooks in the world!

As well as their Dell Inspiron laptop models, which come in all kinds of different colors.

Dell Latitude D400

The Dell Latitude D-Series laptop is a great little notebook. Recently I picked one up on eBay at a great price.

The one I purchased is a Dell Latitude D400 model. If you are thinking about buying one, let me tell you a little bit about it.

First off, It was produced in 2004 so it's an older Latitude model. The operating system that I have on my Dell notebook is Windows XP and that was a must for me. I have a Toshiba notebook that I bought brand new back in 2007 that has Windows Vista on it. I, like many other people, do not care for Windows Vista at all.

Anyway, back to this Dell Latitude that I got. I purchased it off eBay with no operating system installed. That's how I found such a good deal on it. After I received it, I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP myself. And it has worked like a charm ever since.

Below is a video that I made of my Dell Latitude D400 on YouTube.

Now this D400 model is just one of so many quality laptops that Dell produces. It is sometimes hard to decide which laptop is best for you.

Well, it all depends on how you will use your laptop. If you are just surfing the net most of the time, then you won't need as much power or memory installed on your notebook. But if you do a lot of social networking, or conduct business online, then you will probably need Dell's more powerful laptops.

I mainly use this D400 model to just surf the net, visit message boards, YouTube, and eBay. So this Latitude is perfect for what I do online.
